Cildo Meireles, Babel, 2001 Cildo Meireles is a Brazilian artist whose work often explores scale, ranging from a tiny cube the size of a fingernail to largescale installations which fill entire rooms. Babel is a sculptural installation of stacked radios tuned to different stations, creating immense jumbles of sound. Referencing the biblical Tower of Babel, it explores themes of communication breakdown, information overload, and cultural division.
